Visit Bridport's vibrant and quirky Saturday market and the pretty fishing harbour at West Bay (the film location for Broadchurch)
Here on a Saturday? Then Bridport market is a must where crowds throng the bustling streets, crammed with stalls selling handmade pottery, antiques, clothing, art, exotic food and other interesting things too numerous to list. Shop for one-of-a-kind souvenirs, sit at a pavement café or pub to watch the world go by, stop to listen to live music in Bucky Doo Square and browse the many independent shops in the town.
Briport has lots of events going on throughout the year. Visit in September and don your most exotic headgear with the hope of winning a prize at the annual Hat Festival or in August for Melplash Show (the local agricultural show), or maybe June for two weeks of foodie heaven at the annual food festival.
Afterwards, visit West Bay made famous by the series Broadchurch, wander the harbour and eat some traditional fish and chips or ice cream overlooking the sea. Or climb iconic Colmer's Hill and walk Hell Lane, Dorset's most famous holloway.
